“The growth of women’s cricket has been fantastic to witness. Personally, I think the future of the women’s game is extremely bright. We would love to own a women’s IPL team,” Burman shared in an interview with PTI. Addressing why the franchise did not participate in the initial bidding, Burman emphasized that the decision was purely a matter of strategic timing and business priorities rather than a lack of belief in the league’s potential.
The BCCI’s Cautious Approach
Despite the palpable excitement from top-tier franchises, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) remains characteristically measured. The governing body is currently prioritizing the stability and long-term viability of the existing five-team structure.
