Ailsa Lister Handed Demerit Point for Breaching Level 1 of ICC Code of Conduct

Ailsa Lister handed demerit point for breaching Level 1 of ICC Code of Conduct, the Scotland batter has been reprimanded and given a demerit point after breaching the code during the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 game against West Indies.

Lister was found to have breached Article 2.2 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an international match.

Incident Details

The incident occurred in the 19th over of Scotland’s innings when, after her dismissal, Lister threw her bat and gloves on the ground as she left the field, and then kicked and knocked over a bin next to the team dugout. She was seventh out for 33 off 25 balls, as Scotland derailed in their chase of 154.

On-field umpires Claire Polosak and Kerrin Klaaste, third umpire N Janani, and fourth umpire Nimali Perera levelled the charge. Lister admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee GS Lakshmi, so there was no need for a formal hearing. This was Lister’s first offence in a 24-month period.

Sanction Details

Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50% of a player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points.

  • Lister received an official reprimand
  • One demerit point was added to her disciplinary record

The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of upholding the ICC Code of Conduct and maintaining a high level of sportsmanship during international cricket matches.
