“The IPL final has been shifted because of the big stadium and its capacity. There is nothing to do with the tickets given to the MLAs. 50 percent tickets will be reserved elsewhere as well,” Shivakumar stated, as quoted by ANI. The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) had previously expressed its disappointment regarding the decision. In a formal statement, the KSCA noted: “KSCA President and legendary Indian cricketer Venkatesh Prasad was personally in touch with the BCCI in this regard and had also formally conveyed KSCA’s preparedness, willingness, and keen interest in hosting the IPL playoffs at the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.” The association further touted the “smooth execution, crowd management, and operational efficiency” seen in Bengaluru as evidence that they were more than capable of handling a game of such magnitude.

Last year, the hosting rights were shifted from Eden Gardens due to a combination of weather concerns and broader logistical challenges.
