While Kartik Sharma and Dewald Brevis provided a glimmer of hope with a 70-run partnership, and Shivam Dube attempted to rally late in the innings, the total of 187 was never going to be enough against a rampant Mitchell Marsh. Openers are the key to success. Gaikwad has been ordinary the entire season,” Srikkanth remarked. For context, on that specific Friday, Samson managed only 20 runs off 20 balls, while Gaikwad contributed a mere 13 runs from 9 deliveries. This lack of momentum at the top of the order has been a recurring theme that Srikkanth believes is costing the team dearly.

So both teams will play that game with a lot of tension,” he observed.
